Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain are two disruptive technologies that emerged from the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) that brought about radical changes in the economy as a whole. Combining AI and blockchain has huge potential to create new business models enabled by digitalization. While research exists on the application and convergence of AI and blockchain, our understanding of the utility of their integration for business remains fragmented. To fill this gap, this study aims to characterize the applications and benefits of integrated AI and blockchain platforms in various business verticals. The purpose of this article is to summarize relevant research findings by examining the utility of integrating AI and blockchain for business, and identifying the positives and negatives of their convergence.
