Abstract

The field of nuclear physics has played a transformative role in shaping both scientific knowledge and global energy strategies. This article examines the historical development of nuclear physics, from the discovery of radioactivity to the harnessing of nuclear fission and fusion, and evaluates its impact on energy production. The study highlights how nuclear physics not only contributed to the creation of nuclear power plants but also stimulated research into medical, industrial, and military applications. Furthermore, the article analyzes the current challenges of nuclear energy, including safety concerns, radioactive waste management, and public perception. Particular attention is given to the potential of nuclear fusion as a sustainable and nearly limitless energy source for the future. By integrating historical insights with contemporary advancements, this study demonstrates that nuclear physics continues to be central in addressing the world’s energy demands while raising ethical and environmental considerations.
