Abstract

The article presents a comparative analysis of chiller-fan coil and VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems used in eco-cities and modern multi-zone buildings. The comparison is made according to the criteria of energy efficiency, operational reliability, environmental safety, life-cycle cost, installation complexity, level of automation and scalability. It is shown that VRF systems are appropriate for small and medium-sized facilities with variable load schedules and the need for individual zone control. Chiller-fan coil systems are more rational for large public buildings, campuses, shopping centers, medical facilities and clusters with centralized chilled-water infrastructure. Recommendations for system selection taking into account the hot-dry climate of Uzbekistan are proposed.
